The Music Virtuous Cycle: What Every Artist Can Learn From Drake & Jay Z
When it comes to making music there are three things you can always count on doing: 1. Recording, 2. Shooting videos & 3. Collaborating. So the bigger question is how do artists like Drake, Jay Z and other artists separate themselves from the pack?
The answer is a music virtuous cycle. If you take a look at Jeff Bezos & Amazon it’s the same phenomenon at play. Everything revolves around customer experience, from liquidity (the products) to supply and demand (who’s buying & who’s selling).
Amazon’s customers want free shipping & a friction-less shopping experience. So the next question is: what do your fans want? For an artist, a music virtuous cycle offers a “Point of Interest”, as well as a built in game theory strategy for your situation overall.
Psychologically, there are virtuous cycles all around us. By definition: a virtuous cycle is a chain of positive events that support each other and is a thesis as to why the rich are getting richer.
For all my Vegas people, the same phenomenon can be viewed when playing poker. It’s called “The Matthew Effect” — in theory — it states that individuals who start from a fortunate position have a higher probability of experiencing a virtuous cycle.
